My USB scanner , where on earth to find the driver ?

Its a Umax Astra Slim SE ,System is not detecting it , when i connect the USB that ticnk nouns is coming but the installation always fail there not installing anything from internet ,eve though the ask so . the funny entry is that if a restore my system to and earlier stage it will work but when i come subsidise to this current stage it wont work . but i cant restore the system to an earlier date coz the current settings are terrifically im important for me

Have you checked the "device driver" within the control panel?

Start,Settings, Control Panel, System, Hardware, Device Driver
R-cl on the item to be checked. Click Properties.
That will tell you if the item is working properly.

To update the driver:

Start, Settings, Control Panel, System, Hardward, Device Driver
click the statue for the item you want
click the “update driver” button on the toolbar.
