Picture slides... you indicate that you have it on FILM base slides and not electronically? It would be very remarkably time consuming to scan them with a slide scanner, but you can buy a slide scanner that would work. Some regular scanners come next to a slide scanner adapter, or have that as an route. (I own one, but am not satisfied beside the result, or the speed at which it scans).
So I recommend that you hire a service. Your local CVS drug store can run it through their service via Kodak, a name that you can trust. Or you can transport it to a service like Larson Digital Service at http://www.slidescanning.com/ I used them and am totally thrilled at the results.

Does your scanner support the scan of 35mm slides? If it doesn't, then you obligation one that does. Scan them to your hard disk, and afterwards burn the resultant .jpeg images to a CDR or DVDR next to software such as Nero.
right click the image wallet names or the folder they are surrounded by and slide down the menu to "Send To" and another menu will appear and you click on the cd drive to send them here. you'll need a cd-r or cd-rw disk within the drive
another way is to drag and drop the files onto the drive cross and release the mouse button to send them nearby
