Why can't I download pictures from my digital camera into my computer but I can into my friends computers?

First check if the driver for your camera be installed properly. You can check this by going to the device manager to see if any device here has a wan ? question sap on it. If so, the driver is not fully installed. Note the mark will singular appear if the device is attached to the computer via USB or through any mode of connection and second, the driver is not fully installed. Second, try other USB ports on your computer. If it is out of action check the device manager to see it the USB have been disabled, you should see it so that it will work. I need more info. Can your PC detect your D.C.? What's your D.C.'s nouns interface, USB or Serial? etc..
Did your digital camera come with it's own software? If so, you might want to install it.
I regard you have not installad the camera driver on your PC. You procure driver CD alongwith the camera. (a driver is a small record that helps the computer to communicate next to a certain hardware device).
Could be your brand of computer doesn't see the brand of camera you have.
