I own an Epson 1260 Photo that scans the first picture without blemish, and every one after that one has red and blue and purple streaks adjectives over it. Also, how do I get the neg slide attachment to start? thanx much: Bob

Scanner bed have to be really, really verbs. Any spec can sometimes cause those aberration.
I had a similar Epson scanner next to a transparency unit. The reflective cover is removed, the buoyant unit replaces it, and have to be plugged into the main part. In the software, you select Negative and not Reflective.
