if you uninstalled mcaffee already - go into your C drive and look for the mcaffee folder - delete it - later go to your recycle bin and abandon it
you might also have to delete it from - start up
also - check within the configuration section
click - Start - Run - type surrounded by msconfig
then click OK
once the configuration fanlight pops up - click on the Start up tab
and see if mcaffee is still showing in in that - if it is - uncheck it
then click the disable or apply button (depending on which window operating system you're using (winXP - you click disable button - then click apply button ... and I believe on the win98 system you uncheck the box - next click apply)
then click OK - this will close out that fanlight
then restart your computer - later click OK
symatech is part of the norton's antivirus program - if you use Outlook for your email - next you want your emails scanned for virus with your antivirus program
manufacture sure you have your virus program running at adjectives times while you're connected to the internet - not having it run will allow virus to get contained by to your computer/hard drive
it's possible that you have spyware or adware (which attach themselves to your IP number and is trying to connect to your rock-hard drive (re: message saying a site requests to access)
you might want to install the following 2 programs and run them (one at a time) to check your computer

First, did you uninstall mcafee before installing norton? If not you hold problems, two avs usually won't live together. Mcaffe can sometimes be stubborn and the add/remove does not remove all of it. To un install macfee return with the tools here http://ts.mcafeehelp.com/?siteid=1&resol...
Norton may or may not have installed properly if you still have mcafee installed. Once you have macafee completely removed, if you own no problems, it installed just fine. If you enjoy problems, an un-install and re-install of norton may be required. Get the removal tools from their we site.
Symantic mail scanner is the norton communication scanner.

go to incorporate,remove folder in control panel & remove anything that say mcafee then restart computer. symantech is Norton. Is the site indistinguishable each time? if you could permit us know what site it is because it could be spyware or adware that needs to be removed to stop it.
You inevitability only one Anti virus program. If you want Norton after you have to delete McAfee from Control panel and later go to c: drive and initiate progams there and delete Mcafee at hand and then download ccleaner at ccleaner.com and run the cleaner button and issue button and next install Norton on your computer.
