Avast is pretty good and it's free, although it is resource hungry next to the RAM.
AVG Free is a decent product. But remember you draw from what you pay for! I would suggest paying for a part AV product. Fsecure is the best all around but Fortinet make a good comprehensive PC collateral suite.
