Sound resembling you PC is not recognising it as a drive
you have a problem beside USB drivers...update USB drivers or install SP2 if you are using WIndows XP.
Try changing the USB mode on your camera.

beside your camera plugged into the computer and switched on it should say dsc on your camera eyeshade if not budge into your camera settings and change it to usb mode
