I've installed the Strobe XP 100 software and Paperport 10.0 on my IBM T42 using Windows XP. When a sheet is put into the nurture slot, the scanner emits a giant pitch screech as the scan display on the computer screen showing the scan progress as a grey, mottled page. When the screeching stops, the scanner pulls the page through. I'm vanished with a black representation on my computer. Is there a bulb that could be burned out? What else could wreak those symptoms? What's a possible fix? Thanks.

Check the back of it for a lock switch. If that doesn't work, do you enjoy something heavy on it? If so it won't work.
