How do you scan a picture into your computer?

I own a mac computer and a HP Color Laserjet 2840 printer/copier/scanner. How do I scan a picture into my computer? I've tried clicking the "start scan" button, but it still doesn't work.

Answer:
You can scan a picture manually, or, through the use of software.

The simplest way is to of late place the item to be scanned on the chalice, in the corner indicated by the arrow, consequently press the scan button on the scanner. It should open up the scanner's installed software so that you can spawn adjustments to the item, or, pick how you want the item save ( i.e. jpg, pdf, gif, tif, etc.). Next, just locate a folder on your computer to store the save file(s).

The other way to scan an item is to embark on it's native installed software first, afterwards use the "wizard" to take you efficiently through the steps of scanning an item.

Another course is to use Adobe PhotoShop. Scan the image by select "file", then "import", subsequent select the scanner to be used.
Make sure that all of the connections between the scanner and computer are fitting.

If your scanner came next to any software you will need to install that to return with it to work.

Finally, I know that HP and Macs have not other "played nice", so you may need to check for driver updates to get hold of it to function properly (go to HP website and search for your model).
