my cook books are over a 100 years matured and are very fragile i want to put them into my computer minus destroying them are there any appendage held scanners that i can hook up to my computer and if there are where on earth can i find them thank you

Answer:
iris makes a handheld scanner, own you thought about a flat bed scanner, best buy, compusa, circuit city, accurate places to start.
what if you take digital photographs of the page and then upload them into your computer.
my scanner , a cannon lide 50 also includes an attatchement for scan books called a "z-lid" .. hopefully here a margin between the set book and the spine of the book.

basically it turns the scanner on its side.
