How do I release an exsiting tiff. document to a jpeg?

I used my scanner and save the pictures and if saves it as a tiff. document. I get to save as to the drop down box to pick up it as a jpeg. and it wont let me. I'm trying to upload this pictures onto my space or photobucket and it wont consent to me because it is a tiff. document.

Answer:
Try Irfanview
There could be a couple of problems here. The most common reason that JPG save is not offered is any that the TIFF file containes layer or that it's bit level is too big. I assume from your description that you have editing software you are using. I doubt that you own layers since you said that these be scanned so what you have need of to do is reduce the bits per pixel. Open the TIFF portrait and go to any 'mode' or 'properties', etc. Under one of these you will see that this is a 16 bit TIFF. You must change this to 8 bit TIFF. Once at 8 bits the risk to save as JPEG will be available.

If you do more scan, I would suggest that you scan as 8 bit TIFF, if your main dream is to create JPGs.
