Which scanner is better : (a)600x2400 optical dpi or (b) 1200x1200 optical dpi (both 36bit color)?
Answer:
Check compatibility(hardware/softwar... And are here any jobs specifically contained by mind?
You may realize the following:
By multiplying those 2 numbers(600x2400=1440000 or 1200x1200=1440000)gives the MAXimum resolution(details or clarity)
Maximun Resolution being almost equal size as the file(picture) saved 1.4Mbytes)with both.
(dpi(dots per inch))
Balanced resolution would be preferred...(scan any way(landscape or portrait).
However what can your printer deliver(most are less)?
(most MAX at 300 dpi)
I assume it is a combo(print/scan) unit ?
What do you want to use it for because econmically speaking the cost of ink(multiple videotape or single) in black or color(s) can fast dissapate any savings from initual purchase.
So look at replacement videotape types AND what you'll be printng(B/W, color(multiple cartridges).
Cost of owning or operation should be remembered.
Lastly the human eye is quite delighted seeing a jpg file
while a TIFF(real photo ability uses lotsa memory, not easily emailed, so final to want YOU want it for...).
leaves me to advise a look at cartridges.
A minimum of a black and a color...
use your software to transmutation settings to draft or nlq(near letter quality) will look fine for most and hide away on print(ink) costs. Everyday printing does not need FULL resolution(unless money no problem).
Ehere's more BUT cogitate that may have help.
Both sound as if they exceed your rquirements, BUT check costs(and availability of ink!!!!)
Hope this help and Happy Scanning to you!
1200x1200 is much better
