Before you buy a scanner ask yourself the following question :
(1) Do I want to scan documents only?
(2) Do I want toscan documents and pictures lone?
(3) Do I want to scan everything under the sun?

Answers :
(1) Get a standard resolution scanner (around 1200 ppi) - not so expensive
(2) Get a dignified resolution scanner ( more than 1200 ppi) - a bit more expensive
(3) Get a very large resolution scanner - EXPENSIVE.

HP, Cannon and others will give you the choices of scanners above.
