What can I do to take home the pictures I scan, come out near better competence?

The pictures that I scan are never virtuous for printing! For example, Shutterfly always say that my pictures have a doomed to failure resolution, and are only recommended for wallet sizes. Maybe I should verbs my scanner, but I don't know how. Or is there a special program that I can install that scan the pictures with better power? I have Epson Smart Panel. Please abet me!

Increase the scan resolution for the scanner. You are constrained to the resolution used in the imaginative picture. If the original be grainy, nil is going to fix that, other than retaking the picture.
There should be an risk in your scan program that allows you to set the scan resolution (dpi or ppi) Set that number to a higher resolution and you should receive a better quality picture
