How do I stop my computer from automatically downloading device drivers?

I hold a laptop and every time I plug my printer into it it downloads another driver and adds another copy to my detail of printers. Can I stop this?

Somehow, you have the incorrect drivers installed for your printer. First unplug your printer and uninstall ALL existing printers - not newly delete. Go to the website specific to your printer and get their most recent drivers and install. Then when you plug in your printer, it should endorse and install the proper one. Make this your default printer. In the adjectives, plug this printer into the same USB port, or you will acquire duplicate printers showing up for each port.
