Yes you can do this if you set up a small network. Basically if it is xp later you just progress to network connections and create a exchange cards. You won't need to create a disk as it asks you to. But the drawback is that since the printer is connected to the desktop it will solely work when the desktop is on. best bet is to go and receive a print server for the printer or to buy a wireless unit that have it built in. Some printers resembling mine have an ethernet port built into them so you can glibly place it on a network. Another track you can do this is to get a bluetooth adapter for the printer and procure the same for desktop and laptop.
Yes you can I own a desktop and my daughter has the laptop. You downloaded the disc from the printer to your desktop right! Now you have to download the printer disc to the laptop and you should have a cord coming out of your printer, you enjoy to plug the cord from the printer and plug it into an USB port on your laptop and then you should know how to print from your laptop.
