hmm did u try setting your computer to print next to THAT printer? because if its new it may be used to to the old one...also if u own a new printer conceivably it needs a software installed? (cd that come with it) try those out.
As the other answerer said, clear sure you've installed that printer to your computer. Also, if the cartridges are brand-new, make sure you've taken the cartridge off.
Your printer isn't working because you don't hold the right software on your computer to support that printer.
Go to the main website within which the printer belongs to and download the software for it. I always hold to do this when I replace an old printer.
If you not long downloaded a security update for service pack 2 it is knock drivers out on printers.
