I only just purchased a computer running Windows Professional 2000. I am not sufficiently expert to go and get my printer to work.?
Answer:
It should work fine next to Windows 2000 also. If you are using the USB option, unplug that.
Go to your Control Panel, and start on Add/Remove Programs. Look for your HP software there, and UNINSTALL IT.
Then step to the Printer section of the Control Panel, and remove that printer if you see it.
Restart the computer.
Install the software and Plug the printer into the USB port at some point during the installation when it asks.
Try downloading the full variation from here:

Make sure your USB drivers are installed on your computer...check that in Device Manager...My computer, properties, hardward, device superior...if there's ? marks subsequent to the port drivers they need to be installed.
My bet is that the printer driver for that model be designed for Windows 9x, at least the one on the compact disc was. I enjoy had mixed nouns getting Windows (TWAIN) 9x drivers running on NT based systems (2000, XP). Go to HP and see if they enjoy a driver for Windows 2000, http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softw... and in reality they do. Use that driver.
any special need for window 2k for you?
altho 2k is vastly superior to Windows M E , if you load Windows X P it finds thousands of devices and the W drivers or near your permission go to the net and finds them for you.
I run that exact same printer on Win 2k for years. You can download the drivers here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softw...
Install the printer using the Add Printer wizard. Do not connect the printer to the computer until the wizard tells you to. Remember to use the Have Disk button, and select the driver that you downloaded.
MAybe your printer driver is not installed or the printer driver does not support you OS.
when you purchased your computer, you purchased a printer to walk with it.. you have a CD that pertains ONLY to the printer.. so when the computer is hooked up and running, slip contained by the CD pertaining to the printer and afterwards follow the instructions for INSTALLING the printer.. I am not sure if you did that already so if you did not.. this is necessary to do.
I would be sure the USB port is turned on. They own a poster that explains how to install the printer. Its very impressive to not have it connected until the the software program tell you to connect it.

It is a USB printer right? If it is just plug it surrounded by and use the found new hardware wizard. If it is a parallel printer (plugs into the generous printer port on the back of your PC), afterwards use the add printer wizard located contained by the printers folder.
