Stay HP. Their meantime to bomb is much longer than a Lexmark or Epson.

The HP 1510 All surrounded by one...is what I have and I love it.. It is totally resonably priced around $90 or less. I get mine at Costco and and got a $20 rebate higher than that. :)

I like my HP 3100 All surrounded by One. Just got it and it is a great gadget. I don't use the fax function but I think it is in that. Very reasonably priced and installed resembling a charm.
Brother MFC 420N. They're cheap. If it breaks chuck it and buy a new one. You can buy one at Costco and also ink cartidges.
I own a HP E510 All in One and own had moral luck with it. Very few problems. Prints capably
