Printer won't work near computer.HELP!!?

I enjoy a pretty old deskjet 656c that I used without a flaw with my xp computer. Now, i get a new laptop specifically Home basic vista. The printer comes beside a USB cord and I thought that if i just plug it into the laptop, it'll work. The laptop tried to install the driver, but couldn't and asked me to put within the installation cd. i was similar to wtf, so I went online to try to acquire the driver. I tried installing it, but I didn't work --> maybe because its Vista. Any support or a solution to my problem is appreciated.

HP is claiming that the core drivers is included with Vista and that in attendance will not be a fully Vista compatible driver released for this model.

If you cannot get it to work next to the basic Vista drivers, It might not work at adjectives.Time to purchase a new printer.

Hit the nail on the chief with that statement. Sorry, but considering Vista have issues with tentative hardware, it will certainly own issues with birthright hardware.
There is a vista 32 bit and a 64bit Did you install the 32bit? Uninstall the driver you just installed (go into printer ,faxes and delete adjectives icons of printers)and unplug it from the usb port/reboot/install drivers near out the the printer being connected to the workstation / Reboot with printer connected to the usb port Your printer should be permitted but print a test page if it doesnt print construct sure its set to usb port/ not LPT1/ make sure its set to bi-directional cable. Then progress back to HP trellis site and above where you chose your down nouns they have a driver assessment click it . if something went wrong they will bring up to date you how to fix it
