Can anyone take their Lexmark Z738 to print black type instead of stupid blue?!?

Just bought the cheapo Z738 for printing file docs and it doesn't seem to print black - which is a TRUE pain! Can't find any info just about this on the Lexmark website, Help files etc... Cheers,

Answer:
is it a new videotape? if so have you calibrate? my epson needed the ink jet chief cleaned even though it was different - if your printer has a similar function, make a contribution it a try.
Replace the black ink cartridge.
Take the colour videotape out and leave the black one contained by.
Go to http://www.lexmark.com and download the latest drivers and install them
Check if the videotape contains bule ink instead of black. Also, the printer driver utility (which you ought to have received along near the printer) SHOULD have some mode of calibrating colours. Use that.
When the black ink tape runs out or has a blocked leader the printer prints with the closest colour it can .
budge to file print select your printer click on preferences and next advanced tab and choose to print in gray go up or to control panel printers right click, click properties and to to general-preferences and follow the above instructions. Or on the printer itself there is any an options button and you'll enjoy to find it consult their website if you lost the manual and choose black and white. Does it do this within all programs or in recent times like Word or something. If it does it surrounded by all Office programs consequently your Normal.dot template has be set to blue intead of Automatic or Black font color. In 2003 go to format font and correct it to black or auto times new roman 12 pt regular and after click the make non-attendance button at the bottom. If it's XP close all bureau apps go to query type in middle-of-the-road.dot notice the spell between normal and dot find it right click and delete and after reboot and it automatically restores the normal.dot template to the inspired configuration.
I just bought a Lexmark Z738 - it prints black OK.

Try printing out a examination page. This should bypass all the software settings contained by the previous answer.
Do you see any black text on the trial page?
If not then in that may be a problem with the print nozzles or the tape.

The 738 uses all 3 colors blue red and sickly together to produce a near black colour.
It may be that
a) in attendance is no red and yellow ink contained by the cartridge
You can check this when you print a interview page - a dialog pops up which should show the levels of adjectives 3 ink colours

b) the cartridge is not properly aligned next to the nozzles
Check that the catridge is properly mounted in the holder.

c) some of the nozzles on the videotape are still blocked by protective tape
Take out the cartidge and check that no residue is not here from the protective tape. Try wipe the cartridge nozzles next to a tissue to clean them
