Anyone near an Epson Stylus Photo R260 printer? What is your experience beside ink use?
Answer:
Its mundane. The pictures you are printing require more of Yellow ink.
Inkjet printing is always costly. Try the substitute cartridges suggested by others, they may work fine. But one entity is that using those cartridges may void the warranty of the printer. Just check it next to the supplier.
Colour usage depends entirely on what you print.
Yellow is a heavily used colour to tint other colours, and it also depends what other colours are present.
I have the R200, 6 ink system, and contained by normal use colours are used approx equally, but it's with the sole purpose used for colour image printing, never essential text stuff, I hold a laser for that.
If you're concerned over costs of inks, have a look at a continuous inking system, such as those from
www.continuousink.com I own theirs on my printer and it's great, about to reload inks after close to a years use . . . 100ml er reload . . that's in the order of 11 cartidges per colour.
If it looks good and you fancy it, discount code "BAILLIE" should still work within checkout . . . I hope . . . if not, convey me a message to s_baillie at yahoo.co.uk and I'll find out why
I have the R340 and my experience is similar to yours. I own been using generic cartridges for the second 2 years without a problem. I only just ordered 72 Cartridges (12 of each color) for $80.00 from here:

I haven't see a deal approaching that before but their prices are still unbelievably reasonable.
I own a Stylus C60, which is an absolute money-pit! It's the later time I will buy anything from Epson. I'm currently looking at color lasers.
