I own an HP 1020 laser printer w/ no instructions. It wants to be cleaned. How do I verbs it?

I love the printer. The olden few times I've used it however, there are phantom prints of the words I've typed, so the documents I print look all black & smeared. I don't know where on earth the instruction manual is, so don't know if within are buttons to push, words to type, or if I need to coppers a cartridge. If I do involve to change a videotape, how do I do it w/out breaking the printer. Thanks for your answer! Brenda
