The choice is yours. Install the software and facade crashes, or don't use the printer. You may as well only install the software - Windows is going to crash anyway. Its just Microsoft clich¨¦ "when it crashes it isn't our fault".
Microsoft wants money to 'certify' that the software drivers will work on window xp. if the manufacturer didn't take-home pay microsoft to certify those drivers, it doesn't mean they won't work but it is the failure to pay message to tell you that they haven't.... dance ahead and install it anyways. It won't' hurt your system.
Go ahead and continue. It method that you're Windows has not downloaded adjectives the current certificates of compatibility, so during installation, it is truism "wait a second, i don't know if i can do this". But it can, and it will, just coax it along :)
You really should double check that you hold all the most recent MS Updates tho - do you run Windows Update regularly?
One other word of caution - if you've upgraded to IE7 some of the all-in-one printers' software programs won't run correctly. You may want to any revert to IE6 if this affects you, or verify in the documentation or on Brother's website if it isn't an issue for this model.
It mode Microsoft have not checked it to verify whether or not it is compatible beside Windows XP. However, if Brother say it IS compatible beside Windows XP, then at hand is a 99% chance it IS compatible near XP. If it messes up XP, which i highly doubt it will, afterwards Brother is liable to pay any costs incurred
If you are running XP and the printer is up to date you should go ahead beside the installation process. It will be fine. It won't kill the computer assuming that you aren't running some software from your corporate bureau that is proprietary. If you are a home user next to Windows for home use don't worry going on for it.
