How to share my printer minus turning on my computer.?

My husband would resembling to use my printer without have to turn my computer on every time. Is there a means of access we can both use the same printer? Do we have need of a splitter?

Thank you.

Answer:
Try this.. not sure if it'll work.

Get a USB hub (one that runs off independent power and does NOT plug into a PC). Plug within the printer to the USB hub. Plug in USB cable from both computers to the USB hub. If both your computers can detect the printer through the hub, then you should know how to print to it from either one in need switching on the other computer.
If you've got a wireless net, all you obligation is a wireless print server. If you don't, you can purchase a print server for wired networks or a parallel switchbox (inexpensive) for your printer. Simply switch the printer to the computer that currently needs to print.
You can share it but the computer to which it is attached must be turned on. If you own $100 to waste, buy a printer server. It is a wireless device that allows you to place the printer anywhere surrounded by the house. My advice: Leave your computer on and share it beside other computers. You have to do some configuration on both computers to share it, but it's reasonably easy.
