Why's my computer doing this?

When, I'm trying to scroll near my mouse it won't respond right and it starts scrolling up and down on it's own. Also, even when I sit the mouse still my page will start moving up and down on it's own. Is it the sensor on the mouse, the wire, problem near the monitor? Any ideas? It's extremely irritating!

Answer:
I was going to bring in an attempt to be extremely "cute" here
and tell you --- if you live contained by an earthquake zone -- to leave straight !! But, I figured you probably are have enough trouble lacking my "cuteness" adding to the situation !!

Sounds to me as though you hold a "mad" mouse---
they do go impossible occasionally !! A question here-- own you installed any programs of late have to do with "auto mouse functions" -- because if you own -- that program may have settings that are trying to over rule your mouse functions--- But-- save for those two things--- haven't got anything that comes up on my radar roughly speaking what else it could be !!!
try changing your mouse
Turn stale the computor, unhook the mouse and clean it, hook it put a bet on up, and start your computer again....or press the center button down(the scrolling wheel)
did you hit the middle button without knowing it? If so press it again and you will gain out of the scroll.

lol. Sorry... was worth a try
There could be sundry reasons. Check to see if your computer is loading long and normally. This can cause delay, therefore when trying to scroll, it will queue your attempt to scroll after it finishes loading other things (possibly a virus), later after possibly 10 seconds it will finally run the command you tried near your mouse making it seemingly scroll on its own.

Or.... your computer is possessed.
Try clicking down on the scroll (push down ,then try scroll). If it doesn't work time for a clean mouse. (check warranty first)
Well. That means you're using a Scroll Mouse. If thats the satchel, you sensor is very loose or in attendance are dirt. Remove the mouse ball and you'll find two tubes close to thing one facing horizontal and the other facing vertical. Just press both of them together.

Now check out. It should work.

If its an Optical Mouse, near may be dirt on the sensor.

Go to Control Panel, Printers and other Hardware, Mouse settings and check and see how fast it it set. Slow your mouse down to single click.
The scroll button have two functions, Scroll up/down and push down for auto-scroll. Push down on the wheel as though it be a button. Try not to be so heavy-handed with the scroll button.
