Monitor Settings - Can't silver resolution?

Trying to rework the monitor resolution on a XP desktop that I just restored. It won't permit me move the slider? The monitor is working okay.

Any ideas?

You probably call for to install the video drivers for your specific video card or chipset.

Windows will work at 640 by 480 or possibly 800 by 600 without drivers, but to win higher resolutions and any hardware acceleration you call for the video drivers.
