Monitor displays fine starting up,when desktop shows,everything distorted vertically,icon are multiple?

Sounds resembling something has messed up your graphics driver:
budge to:
control panel/Performance and Maintanence/System/Hardware
Then click "device manager"
On the device manager record find "sound video and game controllers" interested the sub menu and look for anything with a wan triangle over it. If you find one, double click on the icon and another fanlight should appear, click on the "roll back driver icon" or if that does not work clik on update driver

It sounds as if the video driver has become corrupt. Try this: Open a command prompt and type
SFC /SCANNOW
the sfc/scannow is solely going to work if the drivers are micro$oft certified... try this
uninstall any videocard software from your add/remove programs
goto device manager and uninstall the videocard from in that then reboot your gadget... windows will put surrounded by basic drivers for you and after you can go grasp updated ones from your cards website
