Connceting my computer to my tv?

i hold a neww hp 6000d comp and a new samsung 51 inch dlp they both own computer monitur inputs so when i connect the wire my tv say searching for signal so i know my tv dects my computer but when i put it into the computer it dosent dect the tv so in attendance is no pic and my tv eventually says no signal found so how can i take this to work thank you actually if u want more info such as modle numbers let me know thank you
