Should an Intel iMac be capable of display a second 19" monitor short issue?

I've attached a Samsung 940n to my intel iMac via the mini-dvi to vga adaptor

The 2nd monitor works as an extended desktop but the problem is the monitor is showing the wrong resolution and everything looks blurry. Pixel Fonts especially.

I've set the second monitor resolution to 1280x1024 which is the correct resolution but it seem to be displaying at a lower res. Possibly 1024x768.

Answer:
Hiya MO,

Absolutely with no problems. You might want to put on a pedestal the refresh rate for that monitor.

GOOD LUCK!
Look surrounded by System Preferences > Displays to see if it's set at 1024x728, change it to 1280x1024 if it have that option.
Look at displays contained by Finder's Help.
