Something wrong beside my resolution?

Today i turn my computer on and the resolution is really big next to really bad colors. I shift to the display properties and settings and I get the message: INVALID DISPLAY SETTINGS - The currently elected graphics display driver can not be used. It was written for a previous reworked copy of Windows, and is no longer compatible with this altered copy of Windows.

All I have is 800by600 pixels and lowest (4 bits)

P.S if you have window 98 <i hope not> keep contained by mind Microsoft stop supporting windows 98. no more.
It almost sounds approaching you are in not dangerous mode. Although I've not had that come about to me in XP nonetheless. Try rebooting and watch the boot up screen carefully for errors. If you are surrounded by safe mode it's probably because of some hardware glitch.
