Dual monitors - display setting hold on to resetting?

Hello,

I enjoy a Vaio laptop with Windows Vista Business. I hold a second monitor (HP 21” widescreen) hooked to the laptop and it is located on the right side of my laptop. I have setup my display setting as follows:

Laptop monitor = Monitor 1
This is my leading monitor: unchecked
Extend the desktop onto this monitor: checked

HP Widescreen = Monitor 2
This is my main monitor: checked
Extend the desktop into this monitor: checked

Monitor 1 is on the not here of Monitor 2 under display settings

Here’s my problem. When I restart my computer or when it comes out of hibernation, the display starts exactly how I own it set up. Then after about 2 or 3 minutes, it resets it near “This is my main monitor” checked for Monitor 1 and unchecked for Monitor 2. But it doesn’t other do this. Sometimes it leaves the setting just the channel I intended, but it reverses the order and puts Monitor 1 on the right of Monitor 2.

I’ll appreciate any guidance I can get.

Regards,
Mike

Hiya Mike,

First item, if I were you I would not use hibernate mode until I have a solid configuration.
Next thing, monitors do not use system resources and hence they cannot cause a resource conflict.

You neglected to mention what type of video adapter you are using and the physical nouns method you use to use the LCD.

Give these things a try:

1. Make your laptop screen the primary for a few boots and see if the resolutions stabilize. You can set things up so your programs unscrew on the LCD if that is the aim you have it the other method around, and you can still put the start menu or any Windows component in the LCD when it is the subsidiary. The laptop screen is other the graphic adapter's original primary display and you are forcing the opposite. If this will not work for you, please describe me why the LCD must be the primary.

2. If that does not fix your problem or you cannot work with the LCD as the minor, try bumping up the refresh rate for the HP to 75 Hertz. Reboot a few times to see what the results are.

Note: If you can supply some details roughly speaking the adapter and connection types we may be capable of narrow it down. A device driver update for the graphics adapter might be surrounded by order depending on the current magazine and chipset compatibility.

That should hook you up, but without the missing info I cannot be 100%.

GOOD LUCK MIKE!!
Perhaps it's an interrupt conflict. Make sure that your monitors aren't set to use duplicate resource as another device (either external or internal).

If you are unsure as to the relevant settings, check with your company's support provider.
