What is the padlock sign on dell computer monitor?

On the backbone of my Dell computer monitor there is a padlock sign beside a little slot. I'm simply wondering what its use is as randomly, my monitor doesn't turn on anymore and this padlock sign have me fixated now on what its use is and if it may possibly be the origin for why my monitor refuses to work

I hold one of these on my Acer laptop, if it is the same it is for you to purchase a lock which slots into the slot and later is locked with a push button and tied around the handle of a locked drawer to stop someone from stealing your laptop. Much resembling a bicycle chain.

I own just looked this up within my user manual, the type of lock if you looked-for to buy one is a Kensington lock - these are made specifically to fit that size laptop slot.

If you continue to hold these problems and have access to one, a spare monitor plugged into your laptop would bring up to date you if this is a monitor problem or if it is caused by something else (ie if at hand is no fault near external monitor then it is a problem confined to your current monitor). Yes, it's a collateral slot. It's unlikely it could have anything to do beside the monitor not turning on.
