I'd similar to to buy an lcd monitor next to >1280 horiz. resolution. Preferably cheap and widescreen. Ideas?

As a side register, I wonder why 99% of all the lcd monitors/TVs I've see (no matter how ENORMOUS) enjoy 1280*1024 resolution or less.

Answer:
Consider a 20-inch Dell UltraSharp 2005FPW. It have 1680x1050 resolution, and costs under $500 (not including shipping) (price as of today, 9-Dec-2005).

I own the 24-inch 2405FPW and am extremely pleased near it. It's around twice as expensive, however.
IBM Thinkpads have 14" screen but 1400 pixes horizontal resolution. It's all a event of keeping costs low. The more the pixels you put on the glass the superior the costs (dead pixels, electronics etc)
Yeah dell 2005fpw is good. Very bright too. But the colors are not too accurate.
