Is my monitor dying?

I enjoy a Dell computer monitor which is about 4 years out-of-date. After leaving it alone for a few hours, I come back to find it - it's rugged to describe, but noticeably dimmer, near all the colors faded and softer (for instance, the black at the side of the eyeshade is now a moderate grey). Fooling near the brightness and contrast helped for a time but not much (and they hadn't been touched prior to my blind changing) and de-gaussing didn't help at adjectives. I've also noticed that my computer monitor develops a single bright flare surrounded by the center when I'm turning it off, similar to really outdated TVs. It also is slightly blurry for a moment when I turn it on again. Everything else works fine.

Is my monitor just getting infirm? Is there any means of access to repair it, or should I buy a new one? Is near any chance this is covered surrounded by my warranty?

With the rapidly falling prices of monitors, it doesn't form good dollar-sense to bring back it fixed.

I think even 'back surrounded by the day', Dell only have a 3 year warranty on monitors. It's much shorter now. :)

You don't repair monitors. Buy a new one, or even a used one. They are natural to come by.

It's either the monitor or the monitor cable. My guess by the method you describe it would be the monitor because it only does it after you go away it for awhile, could be caused by the steam build up.

It happened to our monitor and it eventually merely died on us and we had to catch a new one.

It is signaling you that it's close to kicking over alright. You will own to buy a new one. In the meantime to extend it's go I would turn it off everytime you are not using it.

It's time to buy a new monitor. After 4 years peculiar operation should be expected. self service is highly unreccomended. Inside your monitor within are many places where on earth electricity is stored that can be quite stony, even 30 minutes after it has be unpluged, for example: On the top of the glass CRT tube here is a little rubber suction cup type "thing" near a wire running from it, for the love of god, start out it alone. Theres enough voltage surrounded by that thing to get hold of you killed assured.
