Why do culture love widesreen monitors? I personallyt hink everything is too stretched out?

Answer:
That have a lot to do 'aspect ratio' (4:3 vs 16:9) and whether the program is broadcast contained by HDTV or in standard definition. You are definitely right, a 4:3 program can look weird on a widescreen tv. Depending on which of a few different option are used, the stuff on the screen can looked stretched, or too tubby, etc. And, programs that are broadcast in standard definition don't look any 'better' on HDTV's, they basically look 'bigger'.

You really only grasp the full effect when you're viewing high definition content (like from digital cable or dvd's) surrounded by a non-compressed stream (hdmi connection) and the content is already in a 16:9 ratio.

I own a JVC Widescreen HDTV. I _love_ it, but I have to get used to some initial disappointment when viewing standard definition and/or 4:3 ratio programs.
I believe that is a short time ago because of the fact that it is the most up-to-date technology and that's it.
Because when films are first made and developed. there originally within widescreen format. I guess people resembling the "ORIGINAL" way of show making
it's all surrounded by the detail, detail you dont get contained by normal peak, if you were to pocket them side by side you would see half of respectively side chopped off (of a widescreen)
They are better for viewing movies as movies are originally film in "Widescreen" and when they get hold of shrunk down to standard, you lose a lot of the edges of shots which can affect the intact experience.
I don't know because people are sheep and they are told that widescreen is better and they belive it. People spend SOOO much money on these BIG eyeshade televisions and afterwards they only use two thirds of them it is only just idiotic and frustrating.
It's something call "Personal Preference" :)
no Idea, I agree it looks dorky trying to view standard res's
S T R E T C H E D out to pack the wide eyeshade.
Widescreen monitors increase your desktop workspace which is very dear to multitaskers. Movies are better on these screens as all right, but I think those just close to to have the biggest and baddest monitor they can grasp their hands on.
