What is a appropriate brightness plane for an LCD monitor to be view outdoors?

We're trying to set up an outdoor display, and we're looking for a monitor that will work okay in the sunlight. It wishes to be viewable from about 36 inches, straight on.

What is a righteous brightness rating for this project?

Answer:
Now days there are tons powerful sunlight readable displays are available in the flea market ranging from 400cd/m2- 1800cd/m2. They are designed to operate contained by extreme ambient light conditions outperforming routine LCD monitors.

Before buying the LCD monitor you have to hang on to one thing within mind that the brightness of the LCD is more than 400cd/m2 otherwise the data on the LCD will not be proper evident at sunlight from the distance of 36 inches.

You can check yahoo search engine for the suppliers of "High Bright LCD monitors".
I'm not an expert, but when i'm outside I other put the Laptop screen at the maximum brigthness, and when I'm indoors I put it somewhere within the middle.
