Monitor get static interference from External Harddrive??

Hello adjectives I am not a complete computer noob but this problem has me at my wit's run out. I put my 200GB samsung SATA harddrive into an external case and hooked it up to my laptop via USB. It works fine except that as soon as the USB plug touches the socket, my CRT monitor (not my LCD one) starts going frizzy, approaching some TV sets do when you use a vacuum cleaner/lawn mower near it. How do I fix this??

Answer:
try to install a ferrite core on the flex and see if the problem improve
Normaly it's unachievable but a HDD that big could make static interferences beside the crt monitor, don't forget the hdd disks are magnetised.Place the hdd a little further from the monitor or verify the USB cable. that could enjoy short circuit or interrupted.
move in the tv closer too so it pulls up adjectives the statics
sounds like your sucking too much liquid. r u running off of a freestyle or are u plugged in?
preserve the external harddrive away from the monitor. or change the power sorce for both of them
Get your motherboard or AGPs Anti-Elecro Static Package and cover your Hard Drive beside that.
