My computer monitor is a 17 inch and the eyeshade in recent times go to roughly 3 inches. What cause this?

I bought this computer give or take a few a year and a half ago. It is a Compaq. The monitor display in recent times started going from full size to about 3 inches soaring. U can still see the picture but not very much of it and it looks approaching it has rolled over onto itself. What cause this and can it be fixed or is it a lost cause?
Thank you ahead of time for any comfort that u can give.

Answer:
vertical oscillator/driver shot. shorted capacitor, or perchance transistor/ic?
nowadays, you might as in good health trash it if you can get a in the middle decent promise on a flat panel. or give it to your cousin who's MIT bits and pieces to see if he can fix it.
wat
try adjusting monitor control verticl size if no effect prolly defective monitor replace it
There could be a quantity of reasons. BUG, VIRIUS,.. but adjectives in adjectives i think U should pocket it in.
Your Monitor have GOT to be a CRT if its got that problem. Okay, what you entail to do is ajust you "Horizontal Positioning". Some where on your monitor is guna be buttons surrounded by which pull up a menu. Search that menu til you find an remedy that says "Horizontal" of some type. When you see this option, you set your Screen's Picture to move from one side of the Monitor, to the other or vise versa.
The problem is your blind is displaying ALL the way to not here, or right... which ever...
And its the effect of it over lapping when the tube is displaying rotten the Screen.
Sorta funny looking isnt it?
If you seem to cant find out how to wrk the Horizontal setting on you monitors menu, their should be a Recall Option ont he Menu as economically. It will reset your monitor to factory Settings
Should fix the Problem.
If the problem persits, means your monitor be over magnetized and is about in place to die. If thats the case; Purchase a 15 inch LCD Flat peak for only going on for 130 bucks or less and never own that problem agian :P
Do you know how to adjust the screen? Push the menu button on the monitor and you can adjust from here. If this does not work I know for a fact that it would be more economical to buy a contemporary one than to have yours fixed. You might want to check near someone that fixes computers, they may sell you one cheap. eBay is also a right place to look. Good luck.
I think you hold major trouble near the monitor as you have not said that you made any adjustment to your display, such as went for a greater resolution display because you got a current graphics card or such.So i think it will be cheaper for you to buy a second appendage monitor then to go and get it repaired.
