Resolution on 19" LCD Monitor?

I only just got this great brand new View Sonic Monitor. It says for best carrying out, set it to 1280x1024 resolution. It does look good...but everything is so small. I tried playing next to lower resolutions to enlarge things, but some really distort everything. Anyone know which other settings might be defensible to use?

Answer:
I have a Viewsonic 19" Flat Panel also. If you're have problems with reading print on the internet, you can click View within IE and change the manuscript size. Also, go here to better clarify file with XP:

http://www.microsoft.com/typography/defa...

Move your cursor over Cleartype (on the upper vanished side) and select Cleartype Tuner and follow the instructions. If you leave it at this setting you'll get hold of used to it, you're just used to folders and such self larger.
You can't. A LCD monitor has to run at its local resolution or everything is going to look blurry and distorted. 1280x1024 doesn't make it too small (well, if you don't enjoy bad vision), you can engender the font size larger by right clicking on your and going to properties and then hit the Appearance tab. And here's how to set hulking icons, http://www.microsoft.com/enable/training...
how in the order of setting it to 1280x1024 then following these fun things

rightclick your desktop anywhere here isnt a icon or profile then select properties

in a minute again select the settings tab and click advanced

select general and consequently you'll see a setting for DPI

you can select 120dpi or set your own custom size also

then click apply next ok

to see text you can also hold down CTRL and scroll your mouse tiller
Set the Icons and text size larger!

right click on the desktop and choose properties, click on settings, afterwards click on advanced.

Change the 96 dpi setting to 120 or make it custom.
thrifty - don't make it too immense.

also check out the help fragment, it may provide some insight.

the other thing I would do is surrounded by the display properties - change the font size on your window.

Try to only relocate one thing at a time so you know what you did and how to reverse it.
Not to contradict conrad, but I am typing this on a 19" LCD next to native resolution of 1280x1024, and I am running at 800x600 and it looks great. Different monitors will look better than others at non-native resolutions. Anyway receive the download from Microsoft mentioned to help the type, and you might try disappearing it at a lower resolution for a week or so. I did this with my weak LCD and eventually my eyes got used to the distortion and I just noticed it anymore.
I enjoy a SONY 19" monitor as well and the individual resolution I use is 1280x1024. I do agree that everything is sorta small but I just get used to it and there is no road I would change it subsidise to something else unless my sight go bad or something.
