I hold 2 options on my Gateway widescreen monitor (the $600 one next to component inputs and such) for Phase & Clock. When playing 360 on it thru VGA and I hit the auto button (auto-detects picture settings for you) it usually puts Clock at 9, and Phase at 30 or so. I usually jack up phase to 100 b/c the manual say it sharpens the picture, and clock i bump up to 12-14, because it stretches the picture and makes the blind look a little more crude (9 looks too horizontally squished, altho it fills the screen). Can any pro's out in attendance tell me what these to option really do? Also, any other advice for this monitor?

Phase and clock settings tweak how the VGA (analog) input of your LCD monitor receive the information coming from your computer's graphics card. Ideally, you would connect your computer and monitor with a DVI cable, which would save the signal digital and pristine. With a DVI connection, you don't hold to worry going on for phase and clock at all or auto-adjusting (hitting the button will not do anything!).
