I am not sure if i own an agp or pci graphics card. how do i know?

I hold a Nividia GeForce4 mx 420 graphics card

Answer:
Find out the manufactuer of your motherboard and the model number/type. Then google it.
If you're talking in the region of your existing graphics card, just check which slot it is surrounded by. Generally, if it's a PCI slot on the motherboard, the slot is white. If it's AGP, the slot is brown.
You could just google it and budge to the nVidia website...

To answer your question, it's AGP.
