Well, I'm going to keep your price and wants in mind for this one.
You want an LCD; their easier on the eyes, use smaller quantity power, and use less space. You want to attain one with polite brightness (at least 300 cmd/m2) and a response time that is to say 8ms or less. Otherwise, you achieve "ghosting", which is blur from cheaper LCD's. You'll want one with DVI; it's much clearer than VGA. Make sure that your video card have it (white plug); otherwise, just use the VGA (blue).

bigger is always better but any way find a lcd flat screen its better on your eyes. a CRT or tube monitor make your eyes focus over 20k times and hour im not sure about the flat blind but i know it is much less.

I have a compaq 17'' monitor it is terribly good and looks bigger than it is. I get It used for $100 with a 1 year warranty.
nay brand of monitor is suitable for gaming the bigger the better for games but i suggest you get sony monitor or samsung they are best within the market
