How to fix my s-video connexion of my laptop to my tv??

Hiya Floris,
S-Video sends the brightness (luminance) signal over 2 pins/wires and the color (chrominance) signal over 2 pins/wires. The fact that you are getting a picture at adjectives tells us that you are getting a signal and the certainty that it is only black and white tell us that you are getting only the brightness signal.
This could be cause by numerous reasons such as a low trait S-Video cable, a bent pin, a broken wire, an elder TV that is not fully S-Video compliant or a Dell Laptop to be precise only putting out 1 of the 2 types of signals needed.
My first mark from your description is that the cable is not up to the job of modulating both signals into one combined full color signal.
To testing this, try the notebook on a friend's TV and I would bet that it will not work.
With most Dell notebooks the S-Video output will with the sole purpose put up a full color picture to a TV with an S-Video input. The cable would not own the yellow composite video RCA jack, but would be S-Video on both ends (4 pins).
In establish to display color from a laptop to a TV that does not have an S-Video input you obligation a cable with a modular block surrounded by it. In this case I would procure myself a Dell modular block made for the Inspiron and Latitude notebooks.
Here is a relationship to the exact Dell compatible product that will do the job for around $20:

I own several and one is always attached to my computer for Video invasion purposes. For more information on Black and White laptop to TV display problems, visit this intermingle to the videohelp forum:

I hope this helps you draw from it working.
GOOD LUCK
PS. Before spending any money I would test the cable by trying a different TV first.
