Connecting a PS3 to a DELL general blind monitor using HDMI-2-DVI cable!?

Hi

I lately bought a hdmi-to-dvi cable and connected my ps3 to my dell monitor. However all I bring back is a black blank screen. When I turn the PS3 on, surrounded by my composite connection it tell me that HDMI connection is detected and whether i would similar to to use it. After i say YES...composite go into a no-signal screen while my DVI-D peak goes blank. How can i fix this?

Here is my monitor: http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/wik...

Answer:
Your problem is due to non-HDCP compliant Monitor. Usually if you want to ultilise HDMI port from the source, you necessitate to have HDCP chipset built-in contained by your monitor in instruct to decrypt the key (DVI monitor doesn't enjoy HDCP chipset until recent days). Blank screen/snow screen/480p graphics (3 type of results would happen if non-HDCP monitor be detected by source player, and result depends on factory default) usually happens to those monitors bought not recent ago (more than 1 year ago normally) that no HDMI port be built-in and therefore no HDCP chipset built-in. It doesn't issue whether you convert the interface to DVI-to-HDMI or not, your monitor still can't pass the encryption switch back to the source player contained by order to finish the HD quality notes. i.e. You can't use your decent big panel DVI monitor to play HD PS3 or Blu-Ray movies through HDMI port.

I have the same problem too, (bought 11mths ago, non-HDMI 42" LCD ... :( ) and I hold done a thourough search for any solution for it... it's really thorny to find until recent days I found a switch that enables you to use your DVI monitor to play PS3 or Blu-Ray movies on PS3.

This info help me, I am still waiting for it's arrival to Australia, hope this info is useful to you!
Sounds similar to the PS3 is detecting it and the monitor is working. I'd just check that the cable are hooked up correctly. If so, just kind sure that the DELL monitor doesn't have an input/mode switch. The PS3 does have need of to be set up in the system database to look for the HDMI cable but it sounds like you enjoy that under control. Your monitor switching to no signal indicates to me that it is contained by the wrong mode/input though.
