Why are adjectives the pictures on my moniter fuzzy?

Try a differnt monitor, you can win ones in patio sales for a few bucks, if it's still fuzzy you probably changed the level settings some how
Try dusting it. That always seem to work for me.

if any or all of these types are fuzzy, later set your screen resolution for smaller amount dpi (smaller picture on the screen, but enhanced quality. do this thru (XP) control panel, display option
You could try to change the display settings on your laptop. Right click on the desktop and select properties, settings tab, advance button, monitor tab, liven up frequency, and, increase the hertz. That is if you are using W2K OS.
