you tried 2 good working monitors for your outmoded e machines, maybe the monitors are working and your cpu is ruined, i beleive most of e machines model are built in video, it is better for you to buy foreign one for your son , so that he can enjoy using it.
try a alien moniter, that happened beside a couple of my old moniters, they are plugged contained by and even occasionally flash the screen, but it stayed amber, also i assume youve tried wiggle the mouse/pushing the space bar on the switch board?

If Not try a new card.
Try reseating the video card (assuming it's not integrated into the motherboard)

try to remove what own you added on the mother board..
and re install it again... your motherboard sims to reject the hard drive you added... conceivably they are not compatible to each other..
if you hold to hard drives... hmm....

Check for more than 1 video output on your computer. It may have video built contained by to the motherboard and a separate video card. If there is more than one try the other.
How frail is the monitor you tried to connect - I have see some older 14" monitors own ruined newer video cards.
You can try adding a video card contained by a pci slot to see if this works - used ones can be picked up cheap.
As for the drive a not starting this may be in the settings for the motherboard. If it runs the cd you can boot from a cd or you can step into set up from the initial screen and transmute the boot settings.
