if your running a dual head gfx card, try shifting the port its on or expanding the desktop.. as monitor 2 will be off unless u specificy it on.
check the vga nouns (internaly aswell) or if you have used it past go to undisruptive mode if possible and sytem r4estore to a prevous date, i have the same problem and that solved it

if ur system is a desktop then i suspect the VGA card designation ur VGA card might be bad or I don`t know u did not connect it properly check it well.
