Why does my monitor connected to a notebook computer keep hold of turning past its sell-by date and final on?

I own a flat screen monitor connected to a notebook computer. It's be fine for the past six months but in a minute the monitor will just turn it self stale and back on out of the blue. The monitor is brand current along with the laptop. What could be cause this to happen?

Answer:
Hiya Johnny,

Frustrating yes, but it can merely be a few things. Lets quickly dictatorial down the possibilities with no long explanations.
1. Eliminate The Obvious: The Monitor and Cable, are they working properly or not? Test this by attaching both to a different computer.
***If they work on another computer, forget give or take a few cables, pins etc.., the monitor & cable are fine which leaves the Notebook.
****If the issue occur on the other computer, inspect the cable ends for damage, and nick the power supply down to Radio Shack for a free power output test. If it is malfuncioning you should own a 1 year manufacturers warranty, change in on this.

Opening the Notebook is not an odds so if you use Windows, try these actions 1 at a time.

*Is the monitor correctly scheduled in Device Manager?
Remove the wrong monitor & join the correct one.

*Raising the refresh rate to 75Hz could do the trick.

*Boot to Safe Mode (Press F8 freshly as Windows starts) and completely remove the device driver and any related software. Reboot and reinstall the display adapter device drivers & related.

If you do these things 1 at a time you will probably get it working or inevitability a new monitor or cable. I am sure that you will find the problem pretty prompt.

GOOD LUCK

Any questions, basically e-mail : )
The most likely problem is that the monitor cable coming out of the laptop and going into the monitor is loose somewhere. With untried flat screen monitors, they will budge into a mode that is similar to self shut off if very soon signal is detected giving it the appearance that something is wrong with the power. To solve this, try unplugging the monitor cable out of both the laptop and the monitor and re hooking them up safe and sound. Chances are that if it was working and very soon it is not is that something got bumped and come out. Also make sure the power cord is going into the monitor safe and sound.
If this does not help, try hooking the monitor up to another computer, any a laptop or a desktop if possible, if it works than you know that it is something wrong next to the laptop, if not, it is something wrong next to the monitor or the cord. If possible, try using a different cord connecting the laptop and the monitor if it is not fastened into the back of the monitor. If it works next, you have a bleak cord and it needs to be replaced.

Also try hooking another monitor up to the laptop, if that works than you know it is the monitor.

Also if you enjoy a desktop computer available, try taking the power cord off of that (after it have been soundly shut down) and try using it with the monitor. If this works, you call for a new power cord for the monitor.

You can also try updating the drivers of the video card on the laptop by going to the manufacturer website and downloading the one for your card. To find out the manufacturer right click on my computer and choose properties > Hardware > Device Manager. Click on the plus subsequent to display adapters and look at the brand name. (it will probably any be Intel, ATI, or Nvidia, but others are possible) Go to their website and look for downloads or drivers and update yours.

If the monitor shuts off once and a while temporarily while switching resolutions (such as playing games, movies, etc) and consequently comes back on, this might be how the monitor react and this would in most cases be considered ordinary, unless it shuts off for long period of time.

If you figure out that it is the laptop or the monitor specifically not working near anything else (it will most likely be the monitor though), contact the businesswoman, if it is new than it should still be below warranty and should be replaceable or fixable.

Hope this helps!
