guess it have to do with PC monitors, right?
in attendance are different technologies out here;
CRT monitors are starting to be seriously out, now, even for especially big displays, but just within case... Sony and EIZO are top of the string but expensive because professional quality.
LCD panel;
you get different things, too; or the outdated fashioned 4/3 or 5/4 panels or the most modern 16/9 or even 16/10 panels;
LCD panel only work other on their native resolution (that's 1024*768 for 15", 1280*1024 for most 17, 18 & 19";
for 16/9 or 16/10, the 19" usually hold a width of 1440 and the 20" 1680 (height depending on the ratio)
this make for very small epistle, so if you are browsing a lot of different sites, you'll want to stick to a 19" 5/4 eyeshade;
anyway, if money isn't an issue, go for an EIZO; they look cool, however, so if you want stove colors, stick to your usual Sony;
i settled for an ACER as a widescreen PC FTP panel and pretty happy next to it (but put my (primary) browser on the old 18" EIZO, otherwise the sites fonts are too small)

For what? I dream up the all around best brand is Dell. But I use HP b/c of the work space contained by the Tower.
NEC is the most reliable monitor.
